Seventeen Months

Well, Daisy's vocabulary has positively exploded since the start of the year. I reckon she's learned about 70 words in the last 24 days and overall is up to about 100 words, not counting animal noises, ranging from those easily understood by everyone to those only discernible in context. I won't list them all, but some of the more easily understood words include raisins, toast, apple, burger, cheese, hat and omelette, and some of the less easily understood words include flakes (as in corn flakes), fireworks, yoghurt (sounds more like 'gok gok'), butterfly and snowman. She's also learned that an owl says 'witterwoo', a crocodile says 'snap snap' and a train says 'choo choo', among others.

She says Hello and Bye Bye to absolutely everything - every time we leave a room she says goodbye to whatever she's been doing. When she gets up in a morning she shows me her toys: Ellie, Aggie (Blankie), Bear, Baa, Ribbit, Bunny and Cake, then says bye to them all as we leave her bedroom. She's still at it when we get downstairs: 'Bye bye Aggie, bye bye Ellie, bye bye Bear...'

Her hair is getting crazy long, and would look even longer if it were straight, but as it's curly it sits just on her shoulders. When it's wet, though...

And when it's been under the hood of her coat for an hour, as it was last Tuesday when we went to Cambridge, she looks like an entirely different girl :).

At the moment she's a bit snotty and dribbly so I wonder if she's teething, although I can't see any new teeth. She might just have a bit of a cold - she woke herself up coughing this evening and after I'd given her some cough medicine she fell asleep in my arms. I think the last time she did that she was still breastfeeding; it was so lovely to sit and watch her looking all peaceful...
